IBBM is the longest established private sector training organization in PNG and is recognized as the Nation’s most prestigious provider of pragmatic, cost-effective training in administrative, finance, banking, commerce, supervisory and management skills since 1965.

The Institute acquired its existing premises the ToRObert Business Training Centre in 1981. Through the PNG-ADB Microfinace Project it developed the PNG Microfinance Competency Centre and recognising the need for greater emphasis on management training, the PNG Management College.
