ABOUT IBBM
The PNG Institute of Banking and Business Management (IBBM), formerly established as the Bankers’ College
in 1965 by the Reserve Bank of Australia, IBBM is now the leading professional body for the banking, financial services and resource industry in PNG.
We deliver programs in PNG in partnership with Torrens University Australia, TAFE Queensland, Frankfurt School of Finance and Management, Massey University New Zealand, Indian Institute of Banking and Finance and others.
Governed by a Board comprising of Chairman, who is the Governor of Bank of PNG, Board Members who are CEOs from all commercial and national banks of PNG and the resource sector companies as Corporate Members, our focus is on elevating professional and ethical standards of our members towards uplifting the training and education landscape in PNG.
We aim to be the centre of excellence through professionalism, service, innovation and continuous improvement. To this end, our deliverables are aligned to industry needs, attuned to cultural changes as well as the evolving landscape of PNG businesses. IBBM’s Continuing Professional Development programs provide progression pportunities that systematically equip participants with the skills they need as they progress in their careers. The programmes are localised, customised and comprehensive; catering to various levels in the banking, resource and services industry.

IBBM is an incorporated association under the PNG Associations Incorporation Act as an Association of Members.
An accredited Institute of Higher Education in PNG by the Department of Higher Education, Science, Research and Technology from 2014-2016.
It is registered as a Training Provider (Certificate # NTC 001) by the PNG National Training Council Act and provides Soft-Skills Courses, Certificates and Diploma in Business, Management, Banking and Microfinance.
The PNG Education Act identifies IBBM as one of nation’s largest institutions with a global appeal.
It is a Permitted School under the PNG Education Act, a listed ‘place of tertiary education’ under Section 9B of the PNG Income Tax Act Regulations.
It is ISO 9001 certified in Quality Management Systems
It is a leader in provision of capacity building programs to both the PNG workforce through Corporate Training and PNG Small and Medium Enterprises through the PNG LNG Enterprise Centre.
