Calling for interested MSMEs to register to participate

The APEC Business Advisory Council Secretariat of Papua New Guinea will be hosting a two day Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) & Innovation Summit from 10 - 11 September 2018. The summit will bring together MSME Entrepreneurs, Policy Makers, and Development Partners from all 21 member economies of APEC.

Themed “MSME Competitiveness in a Digital World”, the key objectives are to advance MSMEs in regional economies by boosting their competitiveness and inclusivity, equip MSME knowledge and establish enabling policy frameworks for MSMEs.

ExxonMobil PNG Limited, operator of the PNG LNG project, in announcing the inaugural SME Digital Innovation Awards is partnering with the IBBM Enterprise Centre to recognise achievements of Papua New Guinean businesses contributing to digital innovation.

The 2018 SME Digital Innovation Awards will be presented at the ABAC PNG Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) & Innovation Summit, focusing on SMEs that utilise digital technology innovation as part of their processes, or that provide a service using technology. IBBM has been tasked to host the 2018 SME Digital Innovation Awards. IBBM will conduct business assessments on MSMEs operating in the ICT sector as well as MSMEs who use ICT platforms for their business operations. These companies will be eligible for the Awards in September 2018.

• The deadline for companies to be assessed to qualify for these awards is 17 August 2018.
• Awards will be presented across three categories including micro, small and medium enterprises. Each business that registers and is assessed by IBBM will qualify for an award.
• Winners will receive training provided by the IBBM Enterprise Centre. They will also receive equipment to support their future digital endeavours.
• Finalists from the 2018 SME Digital Innovation Awards will be nominated as finalists in the 2019 IBBM Biennial SME Awards under the digital innovation category.
